If your ŠKODA is written off, your motor insurer will usually settle your claim based on the current market value of your vehicle. This could be substantially less than the original value of your ŠKODA. Our GAP (also known as ‘Guaranteed Asset Protection’) Insurance helps to bridge the payment gap to get you back in a new ŠKODA.
ŠKODA GAP Insurance is administered by Abraxas Insurance Administration Services Limited and underwritten by MAPFRE Asistencia Compañìa Internacional De Seguros y Reaseguros, S.A.
Our GAP Insurance has been designed to help if your vehicle is written off through accidental or malicious damage, fire or theft. Whether you purchase, finance, lease or hire your vehicle, ŠKODA GAP Insurance is available and can be arranged up to 60 days after you have collected your new or used vehicle.
There are two types of cover available:
1. Combined return to invoice and outstanding finance GAP Insurance
This bridges the payment gap between the value of your ŠKODA (on the date it is written off) and the price you paid for it or the outstanding balance payable to the finance company, whichever is the greater amount. Cover lasts for 36 months however, if you purchased your vehicle with ŠKODA Financial Services, you could receive up to 24 months’ additional cover towards any outstanding finance at no extra cost.
2. Lease hire GAP Insurance
This bridges the payment gap between the value of your ŠKODA (on the date it is written off) and the early termination charge payable to the lease hire company. Cover lasts for the duration of your initial lease or hire agreement up to a maximum of 60 months.
